First Annual Celina Garden Club Tour

The Martin Garden

8970 CR 133, Celina, TX

Welcome to Hill Country in North Texas! Thirty two acres along the Long Branch of Honey Creek between Celina and Weston have been home to Ben and Weslynn Martin for 5 years. Ben meticulously designed the home from the metal roof to the hand picked Mexican tiles facing the front porch steps.

Weslynn has used native Texas plants in her garden. Entry beds at the end of a Crape Myrtle lined driveway hold limestone boulders, Kidney Wood trees, Desert Willow, a Partridge Pea bush, and Mexican Bird of Paradise. The huge Hackberry is a place for potted Cacti, Lantana, and ornamental grass. Hyacinth Bean Vines surround the garage pad, and the raised "sun garden" mixes succulents, roses, and yucca. A platoon of orange Gomphrena vies with Blue Mist for butterfly visitation. Mahonia and American Beauty Berry flank the screened porch. Horsetail reed, Desert Mallow, a Soapberry tree and a huge Salvia Leucantha accent the purple Vitex off the side porch. Look for the antique soda pop bottle used as decoration!
